Froma very young age, Joseph celebrated his birthday with his cousins, Charlie, Josh,Dave and Esther and a few close friends. Established early on, the celebrationinvolved an afternoon of games including football in the garden, parcel theparcel, sleeping lions, musical bumps and tag. The menu was the same everyyear, including on his 21 st birthday: chicken nuggets, chips and tomato ketchupfollowed by jelly and ice cream and a very sugary cake. - [Tribute to Roy Harris](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/tribute-to-roy-harris/): We are very sad to announce the death of our Chairman, Roy Harris, on Sunday June 29, 2025. Roy spent the last few days of his life sleeping peacefully, with family and friends able to come and say their final goodbyes. Roy was diagnosed with bowel cancer almost a year ago and his death came as a shock to everyone. Roy became a Trustee after the death of our son, Joseph in 2017. Soon after, he was elected as Chairman and remained in this position until the end of his life. He was a quiet and unassuming Chairman, allowing the […]

- [Ben Carr Amsterdam Marathon October 2024](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/ben-carr-amsterdam-marathon-october-2024/): Ben Carr runs another marathon for BHMT Amsterdam Sunday 20 October 2024 Running his second marathon for BHMT, Ben Carr broke his own record with a fantastic time of 3 hours 45 minutes and raised another £500 for the Trust despite an altercation with a woman and her pram on the course.

- [AGM 2024: Trustees and Council Of Reference](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/agm-trustees-and-council-of-reference/): Sunday 6th October The AGM and Council of Reference Inaugural Meeting took place at Stockland House; joining the Trustees in person, were Council of Reference officers, Peter Snodgrass, Nigel Ford, Niall Day-Sawyer, Esther Beer and newly appointed, Dave Beer joining online. The focus was on marking our tenth anniversary, discussing how we can build on everything the Trust has achieved so far and how we can continue to make an impact on mental wellbeing both in terms of awareness and financial support. - [King Edward VII School Marathon Walk Sunday 22 September 2024](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/king-edward-vii-school-marathon-walk-sunday-22-september-2024/): On one of the most inclement days this year, seven Year 13 members of KES school walked 26 miles for the BHMT, raising a grand total of £480. Led by Tilly S, Jess L, Jaicob F, Matt C, Henry H, Juliana S and Cat E walked through torrential rain from the school to Bidford on Avon and then on to Long Marston before returning to Stratford on Avon. - [FOCUS on Charity: Maggs Day Centre - Hope for Everyone](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/maggs-charity-aug24/): written by Maggs Maggs Day Centre is a registered charity, providing shelter and support to people who are experiencing homelessness and are vulnerable throughout Worcestershire. Maggs was founded in 1984 after a homeless man died after years of sleeping rough on the streets of Worcester. Five members of a local church came together in unity to provide sanctuary for the homeless to try and prevent further deaths among local homeness people. On a calm mild Sunday morning, Esther dipped her toes in Lake 32 for the first time. - [Nathan Ironman World Championships Hamburg 2nd June 2024](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/im_hamburg_2024/): Another fantastic performance competing in his 4th Ironman, with a swim time of 1:28:01 for 3800m, followed by a 112-mile ride in 6:24:15 and finishing the marathon run in 5:14:58. Nathan felt his decision not to wear a wetsuit in the swim may have slowed him down as the water was colder than expected, however he was very pleased with his overall time of 13:29:09. Known as one of the toughest courses in the world, he proved not just his incredible athletic ability, but his determination to keep going when the conditions got really tough. Whether pub quiz, bake sale or the London Marathon, we’re always looking for initiatives and especially for people who are keen to take part in events or even organise their own! Soon after, he was elected as Chairman and remained in this position until the end of his life on June 29, 2025. He was a quiet and unassuming Chairman, allowing the more vociferous Trustees to express their opinions at meetings, but always intervening at the most pertinent time. Criteria for allocation of fundsAll the following inclusion criteria include the two target groups as identified in our aims. Inclusion: Exclusion: We allocate grants between £1000-3000 over an annual period. Charities are welcome to apply annually. Applications will be reviewed quarterly. - [About Joseph](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/joseph/): Joseph Harris was a Trustee and, as an avid supporter was one of the first to support the Trust in 2013, when he donated £100 prize-money from his school’s version of the Apprentice to the Charity. The following year he raised more funds from his completion of a Half Ironman with his Mother, Miranda. He had planned to train for the full Ironman, when he returned from his international travels in June 2018, and raise further funds for the Trust through this event. - [About Dominic](https://beerharrismemorialtrust.org/dominic/): We are indebted to Dr Stephen Pereira and NAPICU (National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units) for the following obituary: Dr Dominic Beer was a consultant psychiatrist with Oxleas Mental Health Trust for many years. He was a PICU and challenging behaviour expert but also a cricketer, historian, artist and family man. He died in April 2013 from cancer and is survived by his loving wife and four children, parents, sister, friends, innumerable clinicians and patients whose lives he touched with his counsel and wisdom.
