Big Give Campaign: BHMT versus Beder FC, Dorking Wanderers Football Club, Saturday December 14th 2024

We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who helped us to reach our ‘pledge’ target of £3135. We were bowled over by the generosity of our supporters, which has enabled us to go to the next stage of the

Big Give Christmas campaign, where we find out who our match-funding Champion is. As mentioned in our previous Focus, we have chosen a football match as our event and are delighted to be collaborating with Beder in organising this fixture, specifically through their football club, Beder FC. For more information, please see the latest edition of Football Focus.

Quadathlon, Richmond Park, Saturday, 24th August 2024

“There are not many people I know who would get up at 00.30 to prepare for a four-discipled event starting at 2am”, reports our CEO Miranda, who together with the Chairman travelled to Richmond Park to offer their support to Sean. “I thought triathlons were bad enough for their early starts, but this event really took the biscuit, or should we say the banana.” Fuelled with marmite sandwiches and about 20 bananas, Sean arrived at Richmond Park around 1pm having completed 42 km of indoor skiing, 42 km of indoor rowing and a brisk 5 km run from the gym to the park, where together with friends from Warwick University he finished a marathon, in high spirits despite the rain.

Will Owles was pleased to complete the full distance and Dan Barnes, Jim Berry, Abdi Abdullahi and Josh Arnold showed their support for 13 miles. Tom Salmon arrived on his bike to join the group for the final lap of the run and rode 42km with Sean for the final stage of the event. Izzy Wallace did a tremendous job of multitasking with transport, refreshments, moral support and logistics. Sean finished the event at 8.20pm and at no stage did he look anything but relaxed, comfortable and cheerful. We were extremely touched by the turnout of Warwick alumni, remembering their friend Joe and supporting the BHMT. It helps us to deal with the loss of Joseph, knowing he made such an impact on his friends and realising seven years on, he remains such an inspiration to them. Sean raised £3000 and is already planning his next event already.”
