Welcome to the July edition of FOCUS, where we report on the success of Half Ironman David Lewis, who completed the Cotswold 113 event on July 13 in an impressive time of 6 hours and 31 minutes. This month our chosen charity is Oakleaf, who report on their ‘Clutter Energy Workshops” directly helping clients facing hoarding disorders, which you can read about in the full newsletter.
First of all, we would like to share details of the funeral service held in remembrance of our Chairman, Roy Harris. The service took place on July 25th at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, the same church where Roy and Miranda’s son, Joseph was remembered in December 2017. The service was led by the Reverend Matt Ford, who sensitively continued the theme from several of the tributes of a favourite expression of Roy’s, “on on” in his address. Tributes came from Georgina, Simon and Guy, remembering their childhood days, Nigel Ford on behalf of Roy’s many work colleagues and Naomi and Esther, on behalf of her siblings. Miranda spoke about Faith, Hope and Charity, applying these values to Roy, and Charlie and Josh delivered readings chosen by Susanna Beer from the Aeneid, Virgil and Tintern Abbey, Wordsworth. The former was read by Susanna at Joseph’s funeral. The music included Land of My Fathers, Jerusalem and Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer. You can watch the funeral service here.
