Welcome to the May edition of FOCUS! This month we have had an unprecedented number of applications for funding, which reminds us of the acute need to support mental health and those with severe mental illness. Our featured charity, Self-Injury Support (SIS), was founded 38 years ago by a group of women, who wanted more holistic mental health support for self-harm and quickly grew into a national service. This is the first year we have supported SIS – you can read more about them below.

As well as Mental Health Awareness Week, it has been the tenth anniversary of National Hoarding Awareness Week (May 13-17). Oakleaf, a charity whom we have supported for several years has brought focus on this serious condition, which is linked to adverse mental health, with their recent grant application. As specialist support is required to address this condition, Oakleaf are proposing a six-week comprehensive and fully interactive course using leaders with the relevant expertise and experience. Impact of the project will be closely monitored and reported.
